- Tele2 Sweden
Unifying customer experience and operational efficiency through precision migration.
Tele2 Sweden faced a strategic challenge: integrating a subsidiary brand with 2 million mobile and broadband subscribers into its core Business Support Systems (BSS). The goal was to consolidate operations, streamline charging and voucher management, and deliver a unified customer experience without disrupting service
The Challenge:
The subsidiary operated on a legacy stack that diverged significantly from Tele2’s main BSS. The target BSS incorporated:
- Ericsson Charging System (ECS)
- Ericsson NGVS (Next Generation Voucher System)
The migration required:
- A deep understanding of both legacy and target architectures
- Zero-impact cutover for millions of active users
- Alignment across technical, operational, and commercial teams
Our Role:
TDMC staff were engaged to lead the end-to-end migration initiative. Our responsibilities included:
- Gap Analysis
Conducted a comprehensive comparison between legacy systems and Tele2’s BSS stack, identifying functional, data, and process gaps.
- Migration Design & Implementation
Engineered a robust migration solution tailored to ECS and NGVS, ensuring compatibility, scalability, and data integrity.
- Cutover Planning & Execution
Developed a detailed cutover strategy, including rollback contingencies, stakeholder coordination, and live execution support, delivering a smooth transition with zero customer disruption.
The Outcome:
- 2 million subscribers successfully migrated
- No service downtime or billing errors reported
- Improved operational efficiency and simplified support architecture
- Enhanced customer experience through unified systems
This project not only consolidated Tele2’s subscriber base but also laid the groundwork for future innovation and agility in service delivery.
